These Manic Monday Reviews will be short and sweet. There will be basic background information, a bottle review, and will be posted irregularly; unlike the weekly Friday reviews. These reviews will focus on older or past releases, single barrel releases, bottles that were lost or forgotten on my shelf, or whenever I just want to focus on the bourbon, not the write-up. With that said, today’s review is of the Penelope Estate Collection Private Select 2025.

Bottle Information

From the Penelope Bourbon website: Penelope Private Select annual release explores new and unique expressions of our straight bourbon whiskey blends using the finest of our aged barrel stocks. From hand selecting the barrels to creating each blend, Private Select strives to showcase the best in all of us.

  • Distiller: Distilled in Indiana and Kentucky, Bottled by Penelope Bourbon Bottling Company
  • Mash Bill: 74% Corn, 20% Rye, 1% Wheat, and 5% Malted Barley
  • Proof: 106.8
  • Age: 10 Years
  • Year: 2025
  • MSRP: $79
  • 2026 National Average: $179
  • Official Website

With that said, let’s get our taste on!

  • Nose: Cream Savers Hard Candy, Vanilla, Brown Sugar, and Toasted Oak
  • Palate: Vanilla, Brown Sugar, Baking Spice, Oak, Red Fruit (Raspberry/Strawberry), and Slight Honey
  • Finish: Short to Medium with Notes of Oak, Vanilla, and Baking Spice
  • My Rating: Drink It! (A super solid 10-Year Bourbon, but personally I would still reach for Eagle Rare 10 even at a lower proof and price…)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
