I hinted in last week’s post that there might have been two bottles ordered from the Calumet Farm website when I was reviewing that phenomenal bottle of Calumet Farm 18-Year-Old Trophy Decanter Centennial Bourbon. I have loved all the previous bourbon releases from Calumet Farms, and being a fan of rye whiskey, I could not pass up a chance to try their first ever rye release. Today’s review is the second bottle I ordered from Calumet Farms and is the Calumet Farms Centennial Rye Whiskey.

Bottle Information

From the Calumet Farm Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey website: To mark the 100 year anniversary of Calumet Farm, we proudly release this premium Rye Whiskey, a first for our stables. The ‘high rye’ mash bill produces subtle flavor undertones of caramel, baking spice, and warm oak. Bolder notes of dark fruit and pepper balance favorably, leading to a spicy rye character and long, yet smooth finish.

This whiskey is crafted from the finest rye grains using traditional distillation methods. It offers a dual flavor profile of bold peppery notes and smooth caramel undertones, making this ‘high rye’ the perfect choice for celebrations with esteemed companions.

  • Distiller:
  • Mash Bill: 91% Rye and 9 % Malted Barley
  • Proof: 100
  • Age: NAS
  • Year: 2025
  • MSRP: $89
  • Official Website

As I mentioned last week, we have not seen any of these 100 year anniversay bottles in the NoCo area, and in turn I ordered these two directly from the Calumet Farms webstie. Overall, this rye had traditional notes of mint and rye spice mixed with a bourbon lover’s note of vanilla and oak. This was a very solid rye whiskey, yet I found it to be a bit simplistic for its non-age statement and higher price tag. With that said, let’s get our taste on!

  • Nose: Mint, Rye Spice, and Vanilla
  • Palate: Rye Spice, Mint, Vanilla, and Slight Oak
  • Finish: Medium to Long with Lasting Notes of Rye Spice and Vanilla Oak
  • My Rating: Mix It!/Drink It! (A solid but simplistic Rye Whiskey… nothing super exciting to write home about)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
