It is always a surprise to come across a new bottle on the shelf in your local store that you have not even heard about. Now, I had placed this release on my 2025 Bourbon Release Calendar, but I forgot all about it and had seen no reviews from others. With that, I decided to pick it up for a review, and in good Bourbon Bossman fashion, I forgot it was on my shelf and my others have reviewed it since; but better late than never. Today’s review comes from the Thirteenth Colony Distillery and is their new bottle of Thirteenth Colony 113 Bourbon Whiskey finished with Maple Wood Spirals.
Bottle Information
From the 13th Colony Distillery website: Our 113 Bourbon is our newest limited release, bringing enthusiasts a straight bourbon whiskey finished with maple wood spirals. It’s a taste that’s simply unforgettable.
With a nose that’s both fun and complex with light caramel and fresh marshmallows, our 113 Bourbon is a unique spirit. It opens up to a sweet corn, straw, maple and clover honey followed by a hint of peppercorn spice and malted milk ball for an experience that’s unmatched.

This is the only bottle that we have seen in the NoCo area, and it was on the regular shelf; not placed in the allocated cabinet. Thirteenth Colony has previously been limited in our area, but recently we have started to see their regular expressions on the shelves, and this is the first limited release we have seen. Overall, I could smell this maple bar donut and butterscotch nose forever. Those same notes carry throughout the entire experience ending in a wonderful sweet maple and heat finish. I would call this a sweet maple oak sipper with lasting heat that makes for an enjoyable dessert bourbon. With that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Maple Bar Donut, Oak, Rye Spice, and Butterscotch Candy (The ones in the yellow wrapper)
- Palate: Sweet Oak, Rye Spice, Black Pepper, Maple, Butterscotch, and Light Honey
- Finish: Medium to Long with Heat on the Tougue and Notes of Sweet Maple Oak
- My Rating: Drink It! (A sweet maple oak sipper with lasting heat that makes for an enjoyable dessert bourbon)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
