There are several distilleries and non-distiller producers across the United States that focus on releasing only expensive and elusive bottles. Many of them I have yet to try, or I refuse to purchase as they are known for their name, not the actual bourbon in the bottle. However, there is one that I was introduced to by The Bourbon Junkies through their Patreon Single Barrel release. I still own that bottle, purchased another release while in Kentucky, and now was able to purchase this bottle in NoCo to review. Today’s review is from the Four Gate Whiskey Company and is their Four Gate Majestic Wood Series: Brazilian Amburana Oak.

Until last month, it was not possible to find Four Gate Whiskey Company’s products in NoCo. However, just recently I was informed that Wilbur’s Total Beverage Wine and Spirits changed their distributor and these products will now be available moving forward! Overall, Four Gate Whiskey Company is known for its limited releases and high bottle cost. However, every bottle I have either owned or tried to date has been worth its weight in gold; this bottle included. This particular bottle is so full of tropical fruit, more than likely influenced by the Brazilian Amburana Oak, that the palate was like eating a Cinnamon and Piña Colada Jelly Belly Together! With that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Vanilla, Cinnamon, Coconut or Tropical Fruit, Baking Spice, Buttercream, and Oak
- Palate: It’s like eating a Cinnamon and Piña Colada Jelly Belly Together! Very Unique with Overall Notes of Cinnamon, Baking Spice, Coconut, Vanilla, and Dry Oak
- Finish: Long and Spicy on the Palate, Not a Hug, with Cinnamon and Dry Oak
- My Rating: Drink It! (A Unique Bourbon that I Will Definitely Enjoy!)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
