Unfortunately, not every bottle you purchase can be excellent, and this one was not for me. To be polite to the brand, as I do love several of their other products, this will be a short review, but it does deserve to be published. Today’s bottle comes from Thirteenth Colony Distillery and is their Thirteenth Colony Cask Strength Bourbon Whiskey.

  • Mash Bill: 70% Corn, 21% Rye, 9% Malted Barley
  • Proof: 120.65

  • Official Website

If you are interested in trying this bottle, it is available throughout NoCo, along with several other bottles that are more enjoyable from 13th Colony. Overall, this bourbon is very simplistic, nondescript, and has overpowering notes of nuttiness and sour oak. Unfortunately, this is just not my glass of bourbon… With that said, let’s get our taste on!

  • Nose: Simplistic and Nondescript… Sweet Fruitiness and Oak
  • Palate: Nuttiness, Sweet Fruit, and Dry Oak
  • Finish: Medium with Overpowering Notes of Nuttiness and Sour Drying Oak
  • My Rating: Pour It/Mix It! (This is just not my glass of bourbon…)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
