Sometimes you just happen to be in the right place at the right time. I am not an influencer, I do not have thousands of followers, and unfortunately, I am not sent bottles by mainstream distilleries; but we all have dreams. What I do have, is the ability to make contacts, be a decent person, and sometimes be lucky. A huge shout-out to Parker in FoCo for helping secure this bottle; right place, right time. Thanks to him, today’s review comes from the Wild Turkey Distillery and is Russell’s Reserve 15-Year-Old.
Bottle Information
From the Wild Turkey website: Painstakingly crafted by Master Distiller Eddie Russell, the Russell’s Reserve 15 Year Old is another exciting chapter in the rich heritage and legacy of Russell’s Reserve. Non-chill filtered and bottled at precisely 117.2 proof, the limited release exemplifies Eddie’s expert ability to develop complex flavors through careful aging and keen barrel selection.

I know this is a very limited bottle, and some would even call it a unicorn. I have yet to see another in NoCo and I doubt I will have the opportunity to purchase one at $295 again. Overall, all I have to say is my goodness… I thought the bottles of Russell’s 13 I have owned were good. If they were good, this bottle is damn near perfection! This is an amazing bourbon with little to no flaws and it will probably be my number-one bourbon of 2024. With that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Cherry Vanilla Flat Coke, Brown Sugar, Baking Spice, Tabacco, Leather, and Oak
- Palate: Cherry, Stonefruit (Maybe Apricot), Baking Spice, Brown Sugar, Toasted Oak, and Vanilla
- Finish: Long Colorado Winter’s Hug with Last Notes of Spiced Vanilla, Toasted Oak, and Cherry
- My Rating: Save It! (My goodness… I thought the bottles of Russell’s 13 I have owned were good. If they were good, this bottle is damn near perfection!)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
