These Manic Monday Reviews will be short and sweet. There will be basic background information, a bottle review, and will be posted irregularly; unlike the weekly Friday reviews. These reviews will focus on older or past releases, single barrel releases, bottles that were lost or forgotten on my shelf, or whenever I just want to focus on the bourbon, not the write-up. With that said, today’s review is of Bardstown Bourbon Company Collaborative Series: Goose Island Bourbon County.

Bottle Information

From the Bardstown Bourbon Company website: Iconic trailblazers of craft brewing, Goose Island is a perfect partner for innovation. This bespoke blend of 6 and 7 year Kentucky bourbon has been aged an additional 12 months in Bourbon County stout barrels, then married with a beautiful 9 year Kentucky bourbon, creating an expression bursting with chocolate malt and dried cherry.

  • Distiller: Bottled by Bardstown Bourbon CO. (Distilled in Kentucky)
  • Mash Bill: 56% (53% Corn, 26% Rye, 21% Malted Barley), 26% (53% Corn, 26% Rye, 21% Malted Barley), 18% (78% Corn, 13% Rye, 9% Malted Barley)
  • Proof: 100
  • Age: 6, 7, 9 Year-Old Blend
  • Year: 2023
  • MSRP: $160
  • 2024 National Average: $195
  • Official Website

With that said, let’s get our taste on!

  • Nose: Whoppers (Malt Chocolate Balls), Rye Spice, Vanilla, Twizzlers, Stout Beer, and Honey
  • Palate: Malted Barley, Bitter Sweet Chocolate or Cacao, Coffee, Rye Spice, Toasted Oak, and Stout Beer
  • Finish: Medium with Rye Spice and Dry Toasted Oak
  • My Rating: Mix It!/Drink It! (A very unique collaboration that is quite good, but definitely requires being in the right mood for a heavily influenced stout whiskey.)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
