These Manic Monday Reviews will be short and sweet. There will be basic background information, a bottle review, and will be posted irregularly; unlike the weekly Friday reviews. These reviews will focus on older or past releases, single barrel releases, bottles that were lost or forgotten on my shelf, or whenever I just want to focus on the bourbon, not the write-up. With that said, today’s review is of Penelope Valencia Batch 2.

Bottle Information

  • Distiller: Bottled by Penelope Bourbon Bottling Company (Distilled in Lawrenceburg, IN)
  • Mash Bill: 75% Corn, 15% Wheat, 7% Rye, 3% Rye
  • Proof: 95
  • Age: 4-5 Years Old
  • Year: 2023
  • MSRP: $75
  • 2024 National Average: $92
  • Official Website

With that said, let’s get our taste on!

  • Nose: Orange Creamsicle, Baking Spice, Buttercream, and an Entenmann’s Glazed Doughnut
  • Palate: Terry’s Milk Chocolate Orange, French Vanilla, and Baking Spice
  • Finish: Short to Medium with Notes of Orange Zest and Light Oak
  • My Rating: Drink It! (This might be better than Batch 1, and still so crushable. Yet another amazing sipper from Penelope!)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
