These Manic Monday Reviews will be short and sweet. There will be basic background information, a bottle review, and will be posted irregularly; unlike the weekly Friday reviews. These reviews will focus on older or past releases, single barrel releases, bottles that were lost or forgotten on my shelf, or whenever I just want to focus on the bourbon, not the write-up. With that said, today’s review is of Penelope Rosé Cask Finish Batch 6.
Bottle Information
- Distiller: Bottled by Penelope Bourbon Distillery (Distilled by MGP)
- Mash Bill: 76% Corn, 14% Wheat, 7% Rye, 3% Malted Barley
- Proof: 94
- Age: 4-5 Years
- Year: 2022
- MSRP: $65
- 2024 National Average: $80
- Official Website
So with that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Sugar Candy!! Red Cinnamon Bears, and a Fruit Rollup (The Multi-Colored One!) with hints of Vanilla, Brown Sugar and Rosé Wine.
- Palate: Cinnamon, Vanilla, Black Pepper, Rye Spice, and Sugar Fruits (Like the fruit rollup, but not as sharp)
- Finish: Short but Full of Fruit and Cinnamon
- My Rating: Drink It! (If you want a light, low-proof, summer cinnamon sugar bomb… this is it!)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
