Every once in a while I will be watching Bourbon YouTube and I will see multiple reviews of a bottle that I have never seen before. Most times I will caulk it up to not being available in our area, but occasionally the Fomo will kick in and I might order it online; this is one of those bottles. Although this is a newer bourbon to me, this distillery has become very well-known for its annual Double Oaked Bourbon Whiskey release; unfortunately, I am only a part-time blogger and do not have access to this bottle. Nonetheless, today’s review is from the Thirteenth Colony Distillery and is their core line of Thirteenth Colony Southern Bourbon Whiskey.

Bottle Information

From the 13th Colony Distillery website: 13th Colony Southern Bourbon is recognized by winning multiple Double-Gold awards. It boasts of a smooth, well-rounded flavor with a slightly sweet finish. Bottled at 95 proof, this unique bottle is a perfect daily sipper.

This bottle is unfortunately not available in NoCo, and I have yet to find it anywhere in Colorado. With all the hype of their annual release and many others starting to review Thirteenth Colony’s core lineup, I decided to purchase this bottle from Bourbon Outfitters while purchasing a recent single barrel from ADHD Whiskey. Overall, I would confidently state that Thirteenth Colony’s Southern Bourbon Whiskey is truly a great daily/weekly pour for an awesome price! With those typical bourbon notes that we all love and an addition of sweet oak with spicy fruitiness, this bottle will now have a forever home on my bar cart; and I do not say that lightly. With that said, let’s get our taste on!

• Nose: Vanilla, Brown Sugar, Charred Oak, and a Faint Fruitiness (Apple/Banana)
• Palate: Vanilla, Honey, Baking Spice, Dried Apple, Banana Chips, Cinnamon, All Spice, and Dry Oak
• Finish: Medium with Sweet Oak and Spice
• My Rating: Drink It! (Finally, truly a great daily/weekly pour for an awesome price!)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
