Happy Holidays All! These Drinks by the Dram advent calendar reviews will be short, sweet, and hopefully daily throughout December. More realistically though, life, work, and late-night meetings will either cause these posts to double up occasionally or extend past the 24th. But I love the title “24 Drams of Christmas” so we are keeping it! If you are interested in learning more about bourbon and whiskey advent calendars, please visit my blog post HERE.
With that said, let’s get our taste on!
Teeling Whiskey Small Batch Amber Ale Cask Finish
- Nose: Juniper, Lemon Citrus, and Fresh Cut Grass
- Palate: Floral, Lemon Citrus, Pine, and Spice
- Finish: Short with Sour Notes of Spice and Lemon Citrus
- My Rating: Donate It! (Not my favorite dram of whiskey)
The nose of this whiskey reminded me of my childhood in Northern California and running through the seaside junipers. Although this was a great memory, this is not what I enjoy my whiskey nose to be. Unfortunately, the palate continues with overpowering floral, citrus, and pine that leaves a bit of sourness. Overall, this was regrettably my least favorite dram of whiskey so far this calendar. But remember, just because I did not like this dram, does not mean you should not take the adventure and try it too!
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
