Happy Holidays All! These Drinks by the Dram advent calendar reviews will be short, sweet, and hopefully daily throughout December. More realistically though, life, work, and late-night meetings will either cause these posts to double up occasionally or extend past the 24th. But I love the title “24 Drams of Christmas” so we are keeping it! If you are interested in learning more about bourbon and whiskey advent calendars, please visit my blog post HERE.

With that said, let’s get our taste on!

Mortlach 20 Year Old

  • Nose: Fresh Bright Fruits; Maybe Apricots, Pears, and Melon. A Very Faint Orange Peel, and Milk Chocolate or Cacao As Well
  • Palate: Very Minimal Flavors. Perhaps Notes of Vanilla, Apricot, Pear, and Dry Oak
  • Finish: Short to Medium and Funky? An Unknown Funk with Very Light Notes of Oak and Leather
  • My Rating: Donate It/Mix It!

This is not my favorite whiskey so far on this advent calendar journey and I feel like we might be spiraling downhill! Definitely not a mixer and not a whiskey I would personally recommend The nose is beautiful, but the palate and finish are not for me; perhaps these flavors might meet your palate so please do not let my experience stop you from exploring.

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
