It’s Friday again and that means it’s time for the weekend and a new bourbon review! This review marks the 20th one so far and nearly five months of writing on this journey. I am not sure if anyone is actually reading these reviews or if they are beneficial in helping to guide anyone in making purchases, but I sure am enjoying it. For those who are reading these weekly, I am very appreciative so thank you, and for those who might find these reviews in years to come, thank you for stopping by as well.

With that said, let’s continue with reviewing the ongoing hype around the Buffalo Trace Distillery. This review will focus on yet another product from their main whiskey lineup. Often known as their flagship bourbon product, this review is the first Buffalo Trace Distillery bottle that was purchased on my bourbon journey; Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

As found on the Buffalo Trace website: Ancient buffalo carved paths through the wilderness that led American pioneers and explorers to new frontiers. One such trail led to the banks of the Kentucky River where Buffalo Trace Distillery has been making bourbon whiskey the same way for more than 200 years. In tribute to the mighty buffalo and the rugged, independent spirit of the pioneers who followed them, we created our signature Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is one of the few Buffalo Trace products that are still readily available on most liquor store shelves. However, like most products from this distillery pricing varies quite drastically from store to store. This bottle was purchased in Northern Colorado for $35, however Mrs. Bourbon Bossman and I have seen these bottles go for as much as $65 in some of our local liquor stores. With that said, let’s get our taste on!

• Nose: Vanilla, Caramel, and light notes of Fruits, Oak and Honey.
• Palate: Super Sweet with notes of Brown Sugar, and Vanilla.
• Finish: Light upfront oak finish, yet lacking any length or finishing flavors.
• 2022 MSRP: $30
• 2022 National Average: $35
• My Rating: Mix It! (Not my cup of tea, however this is a great mixing or starter bourbon)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
