Merry Christmas! As mentioned in the previous review, on a whim, The Mrs. and I decided to go on a date night and we ended up at a new establishment to us called William Oliver’s Colorado Pub and Eatery.

While there, I was able to taste two wonderful bourbons and the second of these two was a bourbon that had been on my list for a while now. From the Michter’s Distillery, I was able to enjoy Michter’s 10-Year Old Single Barrel Straight Rye Whiskey.

As stated from the website this bourbon is: One of our most limited production items, Michter’s 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye continues the legacy of America’s first whiskey variety (rye) from America’s first whiskey company (Michter’s, originally known as Shenk’s).

Now I did come across two of these bottles in Northern Colorado for $299.99 a piece. Although I was tempted, as this is a bourbon on my wishlist, I chose to pass on purchasing a bottle, but could not pass on a chance to still taste this year’s release. With that said, let’s get our taste on!

  • Nose: Vanilla, Floral, and Herbal Spice.
  • Palate: Continued Vanilla, Raisins/Figs, separate mixed fruity notes, and very oily which coats the entire palate.
  • Finish: Complex and lingering with notes of leather, chocolate, and a delicious balance of spice.
  • MSRP: $160
  • National Average: $367
  • My Rating: Save It!

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
