I am not sure about others who enjoy the wonderful world of bourbon, but I sure am a sucker when it comes to a larger age-stated number on the front of a bottle. There is nothing like walking down the aisle of your local store, browsing the shelf, when your eye catches those glorious big and bold fonts calling out anything aged over 10 years. Today’s review comes from the Elijah Craig Distilling Co. and is their new single-barrel expression of Elijah Craig 15-Year-Old.

Bottle Information

From the Elijah Craig website: Bottled solely from the contents of one expertly chosen barrel, this robust and complex expression of Elijah Craig reflects a legacy of patient Bourbon craftsmanship. Bold, mature, and richly layered, 15 Year Old showcases the depth that only extended aging can achieve.

Unfortunately, I have only seen this one bottle in the NoCo area, so if you are interested in it, I hope it is more available in your neck of the woods. Overall, this is a really good pour of whiskey with well-balanced notes of vanilla, baking spice, sweet oak, and a fruitiness throughout. Unfortunately for me, this is not a great whiskey as I felt it was lacking something for a 15-Year-Old release. Now, maybe it is just me, and perhaps I was just spoiled in 2025, but I personally feel as though there has been good whiskey, but not great whiskey, released in 2026… well, at least yet. With that said, let’s get our taste on!

  • Nose: Toasted Oak, Vanilla, Berries and Cream, Cherry, and Caramel
  • Palate: Baking Spice, Sweet Oak, Vanilla, Brown Sugar, Black Pepper, and Mixed Berry/Cherry
  • Finish: Long with Lasting Notes of Sweet Oak Tannins, Baking Spice, and Vanilla
  • My Rating: Drink It!/Save It! (This is a really good aged pour, not great, but really good…)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
