It is always wonderful to see large distillers release new products, especially new types of whiskey, in new bottles, with new names. Although yet another limited release that will be hard for many to find, especially at a decent price, at least Marker’s Mark is expanding their lineup once again. Today’s review comes from the Marker’s Mark Distillery and is their new release of Star Hill Farm American Wheat Whiskey.

Bottle Information

From the Marker’s Mark website: The 2025 release marries two mashbills – one using 70% soft red winter wheat and 30% malted barley, and the other 100% malted soft red winter wheat. By respecting regenerative agriculture practices and careful blending and aging, we amplify the grain’s unique flavor.

We’re proud that Star Hill Farm Whisky represents the first liquid in our portfolio to be awarded an Estate Whiskey Certification through the Estate Whiskey Alliance®. This prestigious achievement demonstrates our commitment to sustainable production methods and local sourcing efforts.

This bottle was released back in April of 2025 and unfortunately, we did not see one in the NoCo area. Two months later, we traveled to Kentucky for our anniversary, visited the distillery, and searched the state for this release with no luck. Then, one random afternoon in late August as Mrs. Bourbon Bossman and I headed home from errands, we stopped by one of our small local stores that we had not visited in several months. Lo and behold, sitting on the shelf behind the counter, there it was, overpriced, but, still we were willing to purchase it so I could review it.

Overall, this is an excellent new release from Marker’s Mark, but please do not overpay for this bottle. Strong sweet notes of red fruit and chocolate are found throughout the nose and palate, with additional classic notes of vanilla, caramel, and oak. Although this is a fresh breath of air from a large distiller known for one core product, I still found this a bit simplistic like traditional Marker’s Mark. With that said, let’s get our taste on!

  • Nose: Red Fruit (Strawberry or Raspberry), Vanilla, Caramel, Dark Chocolate, and a Slight Oak
  • Palate: Vanilla, Dark Chocolate, Strawberry, Oak, and Caramel
  • Finish: Medium with Notes with Oak and Chocolate Covered Sweet Red Fruit
  • My Rating: Drink It! (An excellent new release from Marker’s Mark, but please do not over pay for this bottle… it is really, really good, but not near double MSRP good, if you get my drift)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
