Pretty soon here the theme of this blog is going to just be “Gotcha B*tch!” Several times this year I have now fallen for what I call these damn gimmick bottles. This time I bought a bottle because it is partnered with the water company Liquid Death which I often enjoy. Little did I know that not only was the whiskey proofed with the Liquid Death Mountain Water but then it was “aged in custom charred American oak caskets”….huh! Anyway, today’s review comes from the WhistlePig Whiskey Co. and is their newest release of WhistlePig GraveStock Wheat Whiskey.
Bottle Information
From the WhistlePig website: WhistlePig is burying spritz & seltzer season with a summer whiskey that refuses to go quietly.
Our Limited Edition GraveStock Whiskey is a high (nearly all) wheat whiskey aged in custom, charred American oak caskets, and proofed with Liquid Death Mountain Water. The result is less than grim: a mellow yet nuanced sunny-season sipper that sets a new standard on your summer bar. This is your go-to whiskey for long days, late nights, and the last last call.

This bottle has been slow to show up in the NoCo area, but I have now started to see it a bit more. Like most of the WhistlePig products, I find it to be a bit overpriced for being lower proof and non-age-stated (NAS). Overall though, this whiskey offered a light crisp nose with notes of caramel, honey, and baking spice throughout the entire experience. Now I know this is another gimmick bottle, but I am quite a fan of the packaging and the wheat whiskey inside is damn good. This might even become my 2025 Summertime Sipping Whiskey! With that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Apple, Honey, Caramel, Wheat Dough, and Mazipan
- Palate: Caramel, Baking Spice, Honey, Wheat Grain, and Charred Oak
- Finish: Medium with Notes of Baking Spice and Honey
- My Rating: Mix It!/Drink It! (I know this is another gimmick bottle, but I’m quite a fan of the packaging and the wheat whiskey inside it. This might even become my 2025 Summertime Sipping Whiskey!)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
