These Manic Monday Reviews will be short and sweet. There will be basic background information, a bottle review, and will be posted irregularly; unlike the weekly Friday reviews. These reviews will focus on older or past releases, single barrel releases, bottles that were lost or forgotten on my shelf, or whenever I just want to focus on the bourbon, not the write-up. With that said, today’s review is of New Southern Revival Abruzzi Rye Whiskey.

From the High Wire Distilling Co. website: Our Rye Whiskey is made with a locally sourced 100% Wrens Abruzzi rye, an heirloom grain grown in the Carolinas for centuries and prized for its hardy backbone and complex nutty flavors.

With that said, let’s get our taste on!

• Nose: Overpowering Acetone, with Additional Notes of Cereal Grain, Cherry, Brown Sugar, Rye Spice, and Floral/Herbal Tea
• Palate: Grain Forward, Herbal Tea, Rye Spice, Grassy/Hay, and Oak
• Finish: Medium with Bitter Tea Notes, Dry Oak Tannins, and Rye Spice
• My Rating: Pour It!/Donate It! (Unfortunately, I am not a fan of this Abruzzi Rye)
