These Manic Monday Reviews will be short and sweet. There will be basic background information, a bottle review, and will be posted irregularly; unlike the weekly Friday reviews. These reviews will focus on older or past releases, single barrel releases, bottles that were lost or forgotten on my shelf, or whenever I just want to focus on the bourbon, not the write-up. With that said, today’s review is of Redwood Empire Devils Tower High Rye Bourbon Batch 2.
Bottle Information
From the Redwood Empire Whiskey website: Our small lot series allows us to continue our spirit of experimentation by applying our hard-won house style to products with a specific focus. This high rye bourbon whiskey is in a league of its own.
- Distiller: Distilled and Bottled by Redwood Empire Distilling
- Mash Bill: 51% Corn, 44% Rye, 2.5% Malted Barley, and 2.5% Wheat
- Proof: 99
- Age: NAS
- Year: 2024
- MSRP: $89
- 2025 National Average: $122
- Official Website
So with that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Vanilla, Rye Spice, Brown Sugar, and a Very Light Fruit (Maybe Green Apple)
- Palate: Vanilla, Brown Sugar, and Rye Spice
- Finish: Short to Medium Warmth but not much there otherwise
- My Rating: Mix It! (Overall, it’s a very simplistic nose to finish, which is not always bad, but not always great for a $90 bottle.)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
