Happy New Year and welcome to the first post of 2025! I hope everyone had a great end to the year and is as ready as I am for the 2025 bourbon year. I am not sure what this year will hold for the industry, but I am here for it! So I figured I would start the new year off right with a review of a bottle from my favorite distillery and the number two bottle from the top 5 list of 2024. Today’s review comes from the Bardstown Bourbon Company Distillery and is the Bardstown Bourbon Company Discovery Series #12.

In all honesty, I was not expecting to find this bottle in NoCo as I knew the release was quite smaller than normal. Fortunately, we did come across a bottle at one of our local stores in the Loveland area and at MSRP. However, since then we have not seen another Discovery #12.
Overall, this was an amazing pour with all the bourbon notes that my palate loves. From sweet fruits to vanilla buttercream frosting and ending in one of the longest sweet finishes I have ever experienced. Damn… I wish I could have bought two of these bottles as this is the best Bardstown Bourbon Company Discovery Series Bottles I have had since Discovery #4, and maybe it might even contend with Discovery #2! With that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Sweet Fruits (Cherry/Plum/Raspberry Jam), Orange Citrus, Vanilla Bean, Brown Sugar, Oak, and Baking Spice (Allspice Heavy)
- Palate: Vanilla Buttercream Frosting, Cherry, Brown Sugar, Cinnamon, Rye Spice, Sweet Oak, and A Slight Orange Candy Slice
- Finish: Long Beautiful Colorado Winter’s Hug with Lasting Notes Vanilla Buttercream Frosting and Sweet Oak
- My Rating: Save It! (All I can say, is buy another one of these bottles!)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
