Every once in a while there are still those elusive bottles that I find myself searching for and more often than not, end up overpaying for. This is exactly one of those bottles where I thought I would never see it again in NoCo and paid nearly double the MSRP. As always, Murphy’s Law occurred and I found a bottle two days later at MSRP; and yes I bought that too! Today’s review comes from the Jack Daniel’s Distillery and is the Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye (Barrel No. 24-02617).

Over the past several months I have been reading and watching several reviews of this new Jack Daniels Barrel Proof Rye. Unfortunately, it has been near impossible to find this bottle in the NoCo area and these two are still the only ones I have seen.
Overall, this bottle boasts a unique nose from my childhood of a handful of Jelly Belly Jellybeans and a palate of beautiful rye mixed with traditional flavors of bourbon. I will admit that I overpaid for this particular bottle, but maybe finding a second at MSRP makes up for that. This is a bottle I plan to always keep on my shelf moving forward! With that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Vanilla, Rye Spice, Red Fruit, Raisin, Cinnamon, Brown Sugar, and a Random Handful of Jelly Belly Jellybeans (I know… weird)
- Palate: Brown Sugar, Rye Spice, Vanilla, Caramel, Oak, Spearmint, and Cinnamon
- Finish: Medium to Long Warm Sweet Oak and Rye Spice
- My Rating: Drink It! (I will admit that I overpaid for this particular bottle, but I did find a second at below MSRP… so yes, worth the hunt and I plan to always keep this bottle on my shelf!)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
