These Manic Monday Reviews will be short and sweet. There will be basic background information, a bottle review, and will be posted irregularly; unlike the weekly Friday reviews. These reviews will focus on older or past releases, single barrel releases, bottles that were lost or forgotten on my shelf, or whenever I just want to focus on the bourbon, not the write-up. With that said, today’s review is of Dexter Three Wood Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
Bottle Information
- Distiller: Brain Brew Custom Whiskey
- Mash Bill: Undisclosed
- Proof: 100.6
- Age: NAS
- Year: 2023
- MSRP: $49
- 2024 National Average: $59
- Official Website
So with that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Brown Sugar, Vanilla, Baking Spice, Oak, and Cherry
- Palate: A bit Soft… But subtle Notes of Brown Sugar, Vanilla, Baking Spice, and Flat Cherry Pepsi (Not Coke!)
- Finish: Short to Medium ending in Pepper Spice and Bitter Caoco
- My Rating: Mix It! (I would call this a mixing bourbon for cocktails. Some may enjoy this neat or over ice, but it is lacking something for me…)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
