As I mentioned last week, this is a series of reviews and is of the second new release from the Bardstown Bourbon Company. Please visit last week’s review of Bardstown Bourbon Company Origins Series Bourbon and today’s bottle is of Bardstown Bourbon Company Origins Series Wheated Bottled in Bond Bourbon.
From the Bardstown Bourbon Company website: Honoring tradition and authenticity, our Origin Series Wheated Bottled-in-Bond 6-year expression presents the best locally-sourced Kentucky corn and wheat grains. This expression features 20% wheat in the mash bill, creating a modern expression of beautifully balanced bourbon.
When first released, these bottles were quite hard to find in NoCo and for me, in most of Colorado. Now, I often see these bottles in most stores I visit. Overall, this bottle is my least favorite of the Origins Series. I find it to be lacking in flavors for a bottled-in-bond product, and missing keynotes that I have come to love from Bardstown Bourbon Company. Nonetheless, please still try this for yourself, as you never know what your unique palate might like. With that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Butter, Vanilla, Caramel, Honey, Bread, and Cherry
- Palate: Vanilla, Caramel, Cherry, Peach, and Slight Oak
- Finish: Short to Medium Ending in Cherry, Bread, and Oak
- 2023 MSRP: $49
- 2023 National Average: $56
- Proof: 100
- My Rating: Mix It!
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
