Here I am again reviewing a bottle of bourbon because of a WhiskeyTuber and the hype his channel has created. Nonetheless, Mr. Matt Porter of ADHD Whiskey is a man of great taste with a phenomenal palate, and with that said I had to try this bourbon whiskey for myself. Additionally, being a fellow transplant in Colorado, I have recently felt it is time to start exploring the expansive world of Colorado Whiskies and Bourbons. For today’s review, I am pouring Tincup 10-Year Bourbon Whiskey.

From the Tincup Whiskey website: Only a few climb the mountain. Fewer still have the will to stay. Introducing TINCUP® 10, a newly-released expression that marries the bold, pure, untamed flavor of TINCUP® with a full decade of oak barrel aging. Massbill is 2/3 corn and 1/3 rye. It is aged in white American oak barrels with a number 3 char for a minimum of 10 years before it is cut to proof with Rocky Mountain water.

The American Whiskey version of this Tincup 10-Year is relatively easy to still find on shelves in NoCo. However, after watching the above-mentioned review by ADHD Whiskey, I was determined to find the “Bourbon Whiskey” version of this bottle; this however turned out to be quite a feat to find, but we did!

Overall, this was an excellent bottle of bourbon whiskey which was difficult to give a rating. I would say it ended up dead in the middle of my “Mix it” and “Drink it!” ratings. As a strong bottle of bourbon with very traditional notes, I could see myself reaching for this as a daily sipper. However, when comparing this to my favorite 10-year pour of Eagle Rare, which is often a day sipper for me, it was lacking a bit of depth; Possibly that extra 6 proof points from Eagle Rare elevates it just a bit more for my palate. With that said, let’s get our taste on!

  • Nose: A Solid Bourbon on the Nose with Typical Notes of Vanilla, Brown Sugar, Oak, and Hints of Orange Zest with Baking Spices
  • Palate: Vanilla, Brown Sugar, Baking Spice, Oak, and the Ever So Slight Amount of the Orange Zest from the Nose
  • Finish: Short to Medium with a Slight Spice Ending in Sweet Vanilla and Very Dry Oak
  • 2022 MSRP: $52
  • 2022 National Average: $62
  • My Rating: Mix It!/Drink it!

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
