As a listener, follower, and watcher of Bourbon Pursuit, like many I was quite excited when they announced they were releasing their own line of bourbon. When we started hunting for this bourbon a few months ago, it was near impossible to find in Northern Colorado (NoCo); yet we finally did. Today’s review is blended by Pursuit Spirits, LLC and comes from Bardstown Bourbon Company, Finger Lakes Distilling, and an undisclosed distillery in Tennessee not in Tullahoma (i.e. not George Dickel); Pursuit United Blended Straight Bourbon Whiskies.
As stated on the Pursuit Spirits website: For us, it was searching for rare whiskey and seeking out the people and stories behind every great bottle. After years of interviews, we learned that memories aren’t created by what’s inside the bottle, but by those who enjoy it together. This inspired us to write our own story. Our pursuit led us to hand select every barrel and bottle it completely untouched… Pursuit United is the perfect blend of three states. These barrels of rye and wheated bourbons were united to create an uncommon whiskey. A blend of mashbills that has both fruit and spice. Enjoy this pursuit.
As I mentioned, this was a difficult bottle to find at first, but over the past few months, it has become more widely available. Now found on most liquor store shelves in NoCo, this has become a reasonably priced bourbon that has impressed many reviewers over the past months. Personally, this was a delicious and delightful pour of bourbon, however, there seemed to be a missing element while tasting and I found myself wanting something more with each sip. With that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Caramel, Floral Sweetness, and Hidden Nuttiness
- Palate: Front forward Nuttiness, Vanilla, Herbal Tea, and Light Brown Sugar or Toffee
- Finish: Short to Medium Finish with Nuttiness, Citrus, Sweet Dark Fruits, Light Oak, and Slight Baking Spices
- 2022 MSRP: $65
- 2022 National Average: $61
- My Rating: Mix it!
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
