This is a brand that I have not written about before, as unfortunately, my experiences with several bottles have been less than stellar. However, I decided to take a chance on today’s bottle when a local store manager recommended that I try this. He, too, was not a fan of the brand’s typical releases, so we gave it a try. Today’s review comes from Jefferson’s Bourbon Co. and is Jefferson’s Reserve Cask Strength.

This bottle is a sleeper if you like higher proof with a bit of that “burn” and is still available on several shelves throughout the NoCo area. Overall, this bottle opens up wonderfully, and I recommend going back to it after a few weeks, and after it has been in a glass for at least ten minutes or so. With notes of Vanilla, Cherry, and cinnamon throughout, this can be a hot bugger, but a very good pour! With that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Vanilla, Caramel, Cherry, and a Slight Smokiness
- Palate: Dang the Heat! With Notes of Vanilla, Cherry, and Cinnamon
- Finish: Medium to Long with Lasting Notes of Vanilla, Cherry, and Oak
- My Rating: Drink It! (I will be the first to admit that I am not a fan of Jefferson’s normal releases. This, though, is a hot bugger, but a very good pour!)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
