If I had to currently choose two bottles that I look forward to releasing every year, it would be Michter’s 10-Year Bourbon and Rye. Although I have been lucky in past years of finding both of these bottles, this year we have only seen bottles of 10-Year Rye. Once again, although the price jumped again, I did not hesitate to purchase one, and again it did not let me down. Today’s review comes from the Michter’s Distillery and is their 2025 release of Michter’s 10-Year Kentucky Straight Rye (25D1165).

Bottle Information

From the Michter’s website: One of our most limited production items, Michter’s 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye continues the legacy of America’s first whiskey variety (rye) from America’s first whiskey company (Michter’s, originally known as Shenk’s). After a nearly three year absence from the market, Michter’s then Master Distiller Willie Pratt finally gave the green light for the re-release of Michter’s 10 Year Straight Rye in April 2014.

These amazing bottles of Michter’s 10-Year Rye used to be near impossible to find, but when you did they were worth the price every time. Now, you can still find these bottles sitting on shelves across NoCo as the price has gone up nearly $100 over the past four years. Overall, with notes of vanilla, caramel, and red fruit, these bottles often drink more like bourbon, if it weren’t for the lingering note of cinnamon red hots I almost always get. God, I still love these 10-Year Michter’s Ryes so much, but the cost is just getting outrageous! With that said, let’s get our taste on!

  • Nose: Vanilla, Caramel, Red Fruit, Rye Spice, Cinnamon, and Oak
  • Palate: Vanilla, Red Fruit (Cherry/Strawberry), Caramel, Oak, Rye Spice, and Cinnamon Red Hots
  • Finish: Medium to Long with Sweet Lingering Notes of Vanilla, Cinnamon Red Hots and Oak
  • My Rating: Save It! (God I love these 10-Year Michter’s Ryes, but the cost is just getting outrageous…)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
