Happy Templeton week! This week will be dedicated to reviewing three new releases from the Templeton Distillery; two of which I purchased and one that was sent to me from them. First off, it is not very often that a company known for its rye whiskey decides to produce a bourbon. When news like this comes out, many like myself become quite excited to try it, especially when it is priced very reasonably. Today’s review is from the Templeton Distillery and is their new Templeton Fortitude Bourbon.

Like most Templeton products, this bottle can be found on shelves throughout NoCo with ease. Now, I have always enjoyed a good pour of Templeton Rye Whiskey and was excited when they announced a bourbon. Unfortunately, I believe this attempt at bourbon left quite a bit more to be desired with its young profile. Overall, this young bourbon was a grassy mouth full of hay with slight notes of vanilla and fruit that just is not my pour of whiskey. With that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Grass, Field Hay, and a Slight hint of Stone Fruit and Vanilla
- Palate: Very Thin with Notes of Grass, Straw Hay (Yes I know that taste from Bucking Hay in my Younger years), Vanilla, and Rye Spice
- Finish: Short, Spicy or Hot, and Grass/Hay for days
- My Rating: Donate It!/Mix It! (This bourbon left quite a bit more to be desired with its young profile…)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
