I am always excited about a national brand releasing new bottles that are supposed to be market available. Thankfully, I have been fortunate enough to find both of the distiller’s new releases, and this will be the first of two coming reviews within the next month. Today’s bottle comes from the James B. Beam Distilling Co. and is the newly released Knob Creek 10-Year Rye.

Bottle Information

From the Knob Creek website: Delivers unparalleled richness and complexity, thanks to ten years of meticulous aging. Savor the pronounced flavors of char, oak, and caramel in every sip of this masterfully crafted rye whiskey.

At first release, this bottle was extremely hard to find in NoCo, however over the past month I have seen the availability increase slightly. Overall, this is a solid 10-year rye whiskey that I will enjoy throughout the football season. Although I believe there are several better bottles of 10-year ryes out there, you cannot beat this price! With that said, let’s get our taste on, and cheers to the NFL season; Go Broncos!

  • Nose: Rye Spice, Vanilla, Citrus, Caramel, Fresh Bread, Herbal Tea, Dill, and Oak
  • Palate: Orange, Citrus, Rye Spice, Baking Spice, Vanilla, Dill, and Oak
  • Finish: Medium with Notes of Warm Baking Spice and a Drying Oak
  • My Rating: Mix It!/Drink It! (This is a solid 10-year rye whiskey that I will enjoy throughout football season!)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
