If you have read any of my previous reviews, it should be no surprise that I am a fan of almost everything blended by Dixon Dedman. A master blender in the bourbon and whiskey industry, his blends are ones I will continue to purchase and review as long as they stay decently affordable to all. Today’s review comes from the Prestige Group and is the fourth release in the Icon Series; 2XO The Kiawah Blend.

From the 2XO Whiskey website: The Kiawah Blend is the fourth release in the ICON SERIES, a series of limited time, small batch blends. Each blend is different and bears its own name and symbol, inspired by something in Dixon’s life. The Kiawah Blend is a nod to Dixon’s happy place where he goes with family and friends to relax, unwind, and recharge. The Kiawah Blend’s mouthfeel is viscous and rich, moving from initial sweetness on the front of the palate, to more savory notes on the mid-palate, and finishing with a lingering peppery spice.

As with many of these 2XO releases, bottles are decently available in most larger stores across NoCo, with even a few stores still having a bottle or two on the shelves. Overall, this is another excellent offering from Dixon Dedman in the small batch Icon Series. Wonderful notes throughout with typical bourbon aromas and flavors mixed with stone fruit and pepperiness. However, I feel this release is a tiny bit less complex than previous ones. With that said, let’s get our taste on!

• Nose: Brown Sugar, Oak, Stone Fruit (Peach/Apricot), Spice, Clove, and Vanilla
• Palate: Vanilla, Slightly Fruity Iced Tea (Strawberry/Peach), Baking Spice, Pepper, and Oak
• Finish: Medium Ending in Pepper and Dry Oak
• My Rating: Drink It! (This is another excellent offering from Dixon Dedman in the small batch Icon Series… however, I feel this release is a tiny bit less complex from previous ones)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
