As I mentioned last week, it is not often I get excited about a bottle, let alone two bottles from the same distillery. Yet, this is the second of two reviews that I was not only ecstatic to purchase but was even more happy to find and purchase at only $15 over MSRP. Today’s review comes from Jack Daniel’s Distillery and is Jack Daniel’s 10-year-old Batch 03.
Bottle Information
From the Jack Daniel’s website: It’s been 100 years or so since the Jack Daniel Distillery released a whiskey of 10 years of age or greater. Evolving Jack Daniel’s past aged-stated whiskey process, these Tennessee Whiskey barrels have been aging in the Buzzard’s Roost of our barrelhouse, and methodically relocated to the lower floors of different barrel houses to extend the aging process for the last 10 summers. The extreme weather variation at different locations in the barrel houses along with longevity in our handmade oak barrels creates an intense, unique character of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey.

Honestly, I did not think I would see either the Jack Daniel’s 10-year-old or the 12-year-old this year. Luckily, an awesome friend went to one of the local stores I shop at in February and purchased a gift card for my birthday. While there, the store owner mentioned to her that they were getting the bottles in later that day and she told me that afternoon; the rest is history. Since then, I have yet to see either of these bottles in NoCo and do not expect to unless they are way overpriced.
Overall, Jack Daniel’s continues to offer amazing limited edition products at an amazing price, assuming you find a bottle at MSRP. This year’s 10-year is a classic Tennessee Whiskey full of brown sugar, vanilla, spice, and the traditional banana note that I love to find on all JD products. This specific banana note was like my wife’s warm banana walnut bread with a dab of butter! Another great release from Jack Daniel’s, yet the 2024 JD12 is hands down the winner this year. With that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Brown Sugar, Banana, Vanilla, Spice, Honey, and Oak
- Palate: Brown Sugar, Caramel, Vanilla, Baking Spice, and Banana Walnut Bread with Butter!
- Finish: Medium to Long with Sweet Spiced Dry Oak and Brown Sugar
- My Rating: Drink It!/Save It! (Another great limited release from Jack Daniel’s… yet the 2024 JD12 is hands down the winner this year!)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
