For those who have read my reviews of Bardstown Bourbon Company in the past, there is little I need to say. For those who might be reading one of my reviews of their products for the first time, just please know that this is my favorite distillery, and their products typically hit my palate to a tee. That said, these reviews will be honest and I still purchase each of these bottles. Today’s review comes from the Bardstown Bourbon Company and is the annual release of Bardstown Bourbon Company Discovery 13.

From the Bardstown Bourbon Company website: Our Discovery series highlights the art of blending, combining exquisite whiskies so the sum is better than any part. Discovery 13 transforms luck into legend with a bold blend of Kentucky Bourbon perfected with Hungarian and American Oak. This limited release embraces the mystery of its number, offering a whiskey that’s rich, layered, and for the first time, double-barreled in the Discovery series for added depth and distinction.

I will admit that I was nervous that the release and next week’s bottle would not make it to the NoCo area. That said, I will admit that I purchased these online from Seelbach’s and unfortunately overpaid by about $20 a bottle with shipping included. Unfortunately, I let my FOMO take over with this purchase, as these bottles are now popping up in the NoCo area and priced right at MSRP. Overall, this is another killer release from Bardstown Bourbon Company with amazing notes of brown sugar, rye spice, oak, and vanilla; a straight-up amazing bottle of Kentucky Bourbon. With that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Brown Sugar, Oak, Vanilla Custard, Rye Spice, and Apple Fritter
- Palate: Sweet Oak, Vanilla, Brown Sugar, Rye Spice, and Dark Red Fruits
- Finish: Long Colorado Winter Hug with Notes of Sweet Oak, Vanilla, and Rye Spice
- My Rating: Save It! (I might by biased as I typically love these discovery releases, but DAMN! Another killer release from the BBC!)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
