For those of us who regularly hunt and search for bourbon, many have those unicorn bottles that have eluded us for years. This is one of those bottles for me, and funny enough, I was able to get it on Unicorn Auctions for $10 over MSRP plus shipping. In my opinion, well worth the additional paid in shipping and I was able to pick up a Japanese exclusive Eagle Rare 10-Year for $40! Today’s bottle comes from the Heaven Hill Distillery and is Parker’s Heritage 19th Edition.

Bottle Information

From the Heaven Hill Distillery website: The 19th Edition is comprised of 160 barrels drawn from multiple rickhouses and floors across Heaven Hill’s rickhouse sites. The blend includes 15-year-old Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon, aged in Rickhouse A; 11-year-old Kentucky Straight Corn Whiskey aged in Rickhouses DD, GG, and BB; and 12-year-old Whiskey aged in Rickhouse Y, made from only two grains – rye and malt. Each mashbill was aged in unique rickhouses and floors, then married together post-aging.

This is a bottle we have only seen once in the NoCo area, and it was priced at nearly ten times its MSRP. This is unfortunately not surprising, as it is a very limited offering, if not the most limited offering from Heaven Hill Distillery annually. Overall, this release is very Rye forward with classic notes of rye spices, cinnamon, oak, and brown sugar. This is definitely a warm bugger for a cool fall or winter night and held up to my hopes and dreams as a unicorn bottle! With that said, let’s get our taste on!

  • Nose: Rye Spice, Herbal Tea, Cinnamon Red Hots, and Baked Apples with Nutmeg and Brown Sugar
  • Palate: Rye Spice, Cinnamon, Oak, Brown Sugar, Vanilla, Black Pepper, and Baked Apples
  • Finish: Long Colorado Winter Hug with Warm Notes of Rye Spice, Oak, and Brown Sugar
  • My Rating: Save It! (This is definitely a warm bugger for a cool night and held up to my hopes and dreams as a unicorn bottle!)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
