Normally I have a good pulse on the bourbon industry and upcoming releases from larger distillers. However, every once in a while a distillery will release a bottle and surprise the heck out of me. This bottle that we are reviewing today is one of those bottles. I had heard nothing about it from the distillery, I did not see a label release on the TTB website, nor was there any rumblings through the normal rumor mills. With that, today’s review comes from Jack Daniel’s Distillery, which is their new year-round release of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Heritage Barrel Toasted Barrel.

Bottle Information

From the Jack Daniel’s website: This release will be offered year-round as part of the Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Collection giving us the chance to bring the unforgettable flavor of our Heritage Barrels to more of our friends.

Offered at 100 proof (50% abv) and matured at least seven years in our highest elevation barrel houses, Single Barrel Heritage Barrel has a soft oak nose infused with vanilla and graham cracker, rich notes of vanilla, marshmallow, and toffee across the palate, and a lingering finish of brown sugar. It is a whiskey that we think Jack himself would have been proud to have crafted and enjoyed with friends.

According to the Jack Daniel’s press release and website, this bottle is supposed to become a regular year-round shelf release. Well, at least in the NoCo area, this is not true as of right now. This is the only bottle we have seen to date, and unfortunately, I did have to overpay for this bottle. Nonetheless, I was willing to take the chance on the above MSRP pricing, as Jack Daniel’s has been releasing some amazing hitters lately. Overall, it was definitely worth the upcharge as this bottle, even at 100 proof, is an absolute flavor bomb of vanilla, cinnamon graham cracker, and toasted marshmallow heaven! With that said, let’s get our taste on!

  • Nose: Caramel, Vanilla Custard, Toasted Oak, Graham Cracker, and Baking Spice (Particularly Cinnamon)
  • Palate: Brown Sugar, Vanilla, Toasted Oak, Graham Cracker, and Baking Spice Heavy in Cinnamon
  • Finish: Medium to Long with Notes of Oak, Brown Sugar, and Toasted Marshmallow
  • My Rating: Save It! (Bravo Jack Daniel’s… Bravo! Yet another amazing release that I cannot wait to pick up another bottle of! )

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
