It felt like this release took years to finally get to Colorado. Nevertheless, one wonderful Friday after I received a text from an awesome person, thank you Parker, at one of my local liquor stores asking if I was interested in a bottle. I was over the moon to receive this text as this is a bottle I had been hunting for months now. Today’s review comes from the Penelope Bourbon Bottling Company and is their newest bottle of Penelope Wheated Bourbon.

As I mentioned above, this bottle took quite a while to find in Colorado. Recently, about three or four weeks after getting this bottle, I have started to see it show up at a few stores in NoCo. Overall, Wheated bourbons have not always been my fancy, but with more bottles like this coming to the market that might start to change. This offers wonderful notes of pear, rye spice, and vanilla frosting and when combined at an amazing price, you can not beat this bottle. With that said, let’s get our taste on!

  • Nose: Light Nose with Notes of Vanilla, Oak, Pear, Rye Spice, and Honey
  • Palate: Vanilla Frosting, Rye Spice, Pear, Honey, and Slight Oak
  • Finish: Medium with Lasting Notes of Sweet Vanilla Frosting and Rye Spice
  • My Rating: Drink It! (For the price and the solid experience, you can not beat this wheated bourbon!)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
