First, a huge thank you to Four Roses Distillery for sending me these four samples to enjoy right before the Christmas holidays! Unfortunately, I have not had a lot of exposure to the Four Roses Distillery, missing their distillery each time we travel to Kentucky, and due to just an outright lack of their products in NoCo. From the Four Roses Distillery, today’s review is of Four Roses Single Barrel Collection, and more specifically, their 20-year legacy Single Barrel OBSV, and their new OBSF, OESK, and OESO single barrel offerings.
Bottle Information
From the Four Roses website: Our beloved Single Barrel has been a favorite among our fans for years. After its recent win of “World’s Best Single Barrel Bourbon,” the Four Roses OBSV recipe has inspired a collection of three new Single Barrel products to explore and enjoy. Each bottle in our Single Barrel Collection has its unique flavor profile, with two mash bills and five yeast strains.
This collection will be available in early 2025 at retailers nationwide and for purchase at the Four Roses Distillery Visitors Center in Lawrenceburg, KY, or the Four Roses Warehouse & Bottling Facility in Cox’s Creek, KY (while supplies last). Moving forward, Four Roses will continue to introduce a new set of Single Barrels each year, rotating between the nine unique recipes that complement the flagship Single Barrel recipe (OBSV).

There is definitely a lack of Four Roses inventory in the NoCo area. Now let me clarify that last statement, those looking can find some of the basic low-proof offerings in our area, yet even the Four Roses Single Barrel OBSV can be hard to find at times; let alone I have never seen a limited edition product and just found my first barrel proof product. As for these products, I have yet to see them in the Denver or NoCo area, but when they do arrive, please do not sleep on picking them up.
Overall, these four samples are truly the first reviews of a Four Roses Product for Bourbon Bossman. Nonetheless, I can tell you that if I can find more of their products or am lucky enough to have more sent my way, there will be more reviews to come. As a reminder, these samples were sent to me with no strings attached, so as always, this review will truly be my opinion of the product and honest no matter what. With that said, let’s get our taste on!

- Bottle: Four Roses Single Barrel OBSV
- Nose: Dried Apricots, Rye Spice, Vanilla, Oak, and Candy Peach Rings
- Palate: Vanilla, Caramel, Milk Chocolate, Rye Spice, Apricot, and Sweet Oak
- Finish: Medium with Rye Spice and Caramel Milk Duds
- My Rating: Drink It! (I hate to admit this, but this is my first time trying this Four Roses Single Barrel Staple and damn I have been missing out!)
- Bottle: Four Roses Single Barrel OBSF
- Nose: Vanilla Bean, Bright Fruit (Apple/Strawberry), Oak, and Slight Floral
- Palate: Vanilla, Red Delicious Apple, All Spice, Cinnamon, and Dry Sweet Oak
- Finish: Short to Medium with Notes of Sweet Dry Oak and Vanilla
- My Rating: Mix It! (Still Amazing, but not as good as the original OBSV single barrel)
- Bottle: Four Roses Single Barrel OESK
- Nose: Vanilla, Brown Sugar, Baking Spice, Oak, Herbal Tea, Caramel, and Green Apple
- Palate: Baking Spice, Brown Sugar, Caramel, Green Apple, Vanilla Buttercream, and Oak
- Finish: Medium to Long with Baking Spice, Vanilla, and Dry Oak
- My Rating: Mix it/Drink It! (Another super solid offering, better than OBSF, but still does not match up to the original OBSV)
- Bottle: Four Roses Single Barrel OESO
- Nose: Brown Sugar, Red Fruit (Raspberry/Strawberry), Vanilla, and Slight Oak
- Palate: Brown Sugar Madness! With Additional Notes of Baking Spice, Vanilla, Oak, and Strawberry
- Finish: Medium Ending in Notes of Baking Spice and Vanilla
- My Rating: Drink It! (Damn Four Roses! This gives the original OBSV single barrel a run for its money!)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
