As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have a few favorite distillers with today’s being at the top of the list. For anyone visiting the beautiful state of Kentucky, do not pass on a visit to Bardstown Bourbon Co. for some amazing bourbon, delectable food, a great atmosphere, and very educational tours. Now I might be a bit biased about the distillery, but I am still very critical about the product they are producing. In turn, today’s review comes from the Bardstown Bourbon Co. and is of the highly acclaimed Bardstown Bourbon Company Discovery Series #11.

When this bottle was originally released, it was non-existent in NoCo or the Denver Metro area. We ended up waiting nearly four months and I finally broke down and ordered a bottle from Bourbon Outfitters. Eventually, this bottle became available in NoCo, yet we did not see it until early 2024. Overall, this blend definitely does justice to highlight Kentucky Bourbon at its finest with traditional bourbon notes and a mix of wonderful fruits. This is by far the closest blend to near-perfect that I have had since Discovery No. 4! The age, the blend of whiskey, and the sheer deliciousness is amazing. With that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Apple Juice, Vanilla, Brown Sugar, Dark Stewed Fruits (Blackberry/Raspberry/Cherry), Spice, and Oak
- Palate: Brown Sugar, Caramel, Vanilla, Red Delicious Apple, Rye Spice, and Oak
- Finish: A Wonderfully Long Colorado Winter’s Hug with Notes of Oak, Leather, and Sweet Spiced Apple
- My Rating: Drink It!/Save It! (This is by far the closest blend to near-perfect that I have had since Discovery No. 4! The age, the blend of whiskey, and the sheer deliciousness is amazing)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
