I know, I know, yet another near-impossible bottle to find and when you do, it will literally cost you an arm and a leg. Unfortunately, this seemed to be the way several distilleries decided to release bottles in 2023; rather than allowing the secondary market to dictate the price, they became the secondary pricing. Unlike many, I am not bitter about it, yes I would like lower costs, but if they are going to release a stellar product, then they probably should be the ones reaping the benefits from it. Today’s review is distilled and bottled by The Wild Turkey Distilling Company and is of Russell’s Reserve Single Rickhouse Camp Nelson F.

Bottle Information

From the Russell’s Reserve website: Inspired by the unique conditions of the storied rickhouses at the Wild Turkey Distilling Co, the Single Rickhouse collection explores the often-unsung contributions specific barrel resting places can have on a whiskey’s final character. Each limited time offerings in the annual series features whiskey drawn entirely from a single rickhouse, celebrating the varied nuances of each aging environment. The collection seeks to prove that the where can be just as important as the how when it comes to exquisitely crafted whiskey, all while inviting Russell’s fans closer into the fold with more information about the origins and influences on their favorite bourbons.

We have seen this bottle in several places across NoCo in late 2023 and early this year. I personally held off on purchasing this bottle until I found it at MSRP but I will say I am very glad I did purchase it though. Overall, I can say that without a doubt, if I had had this bottle last year, it would have made my Top Five List of 2023. This is the perfect example of an aged bourbon with every note you could ever ask for working harmoniously together. My only complaint, I wish this was better priced because it is so damn amazing! With that said, let’s get our taste on!

  • Nose: Notes of Vanilla, Buttercream, Brown Sugar, Sweet Toasted Oak, Fuji Apple, and Butterscotch
  • Palate: Vanilla, Baking Spice, Caramel, Oak, Leather, and a Fruitiness
  • Finish: Medium to Long with Vanilla, Spice, and Dry Oak
  • My Rating: Save It! (I wish this was better priced because it is so damn amazing!)

Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!

Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
