While on a recent trip to Denver, I stayed at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel and visited Bezel located on the ground level. As stated on their website, this lounge takes pride in “Delivering inventive drinks and petite plates in an opulent setting… Attention to detail is undeniable and every night at BEZEL is one to remember.” After a long business day, Bezel offered an amazing atmosphere with excellent music and amazing service!
In addition, they offered a great selection of bourbon, whisk(e)y, and scotch, so as any enthusiast would do, I decided to treat myself and try something I knew I would never buy a bottle of. So doing just that, today’s review is of a bottle I had never heard of or seen before that evening; Bowmore Vintner’s Trilogy: 26-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
From the Bowmore Distillery website: Bowmore Vintner’s Trilogy: 26 Year Old Wine Matured [is] The Second In the Vintner’s Triliogy. As the world’s oldest scotch maturation house, Bowmore’s legendary No.1 Vaults is the birthplace of coveted and collectible whiskies including the new Vintner’s Trilogy. The second in the trilogy, Bowmore 26 Year Old Wine Matured spends time in ex-bourbon barrels and wine barriques, developing a burnt amber colour.
This establishment is relatively new, and I believe I was one of the first customers to request a high-end bottle to be opened. I only say this because I noticed that either the manager or owner, I could not tell which, started taking pictures as the bartender opened this bottle and poured me a delectable glass of whisky. Although a very expensive two-ounce pour, under any special occasion I would order it again without hesitation. In fact, if I were recommending or looking for a very special bottle of single malt scotch whisky, without a doubt, this would be the bottle. With that said, let’s get our taste on!
- Nose: Smokey, Peaty, Chocolate, and a Slight Fruitiness
- Palate: Smokiness leading to Bold Chocolate Notes with Dark Stewed Fruits (Cherry & Strawberry)
- Finish: Medium with Spices on the Tongue and An Immaculate Desert Finish of Chocolate Covered Strawberries
- 2022 MSRP: $549
- 2022 National Shelf Average: $615
- My Rating: Save it! (Absolutely Amazing!)
Please remember, drinking bourbon is a personal adventure, so do not be afraid to drink it neat, with ice, or add some water. It’s your bourbon, you bought it, and you should enjoy it how you want to enjoy it!
Cheers! Prost! Sláinte!
